As part of our ongoing effort to utilize products that are efficient, innovative, and environmentally responsible, AV Strategies has invested in new Elation LED Blinders to add to our national lighting inventory.
While blinders have been around for a long time, the new CUPIX Blinder WW4 from Elation is a marked improvement over older technology incandescent fixtures.
Our new 4 light blinders feature a weatherproof housing, individual control over each of the 4 lights, and a decay feature. Lighting techs no longer have to pre-program a fade into our LED blinders, as the desirable decay effect is built-in to each of the fixtures.
They also feature long life 100W Warm White 3,200K COB LEDs, a 62° beam angle, individual control of each COB module, manual pan focus, variable and selectable dimming curves, strobe effects, flicker free operation for TV and Film, 3pin and 5pin DMX and powerCon in/out connections. They also have LCD menu display with 4 button control panel, integrated yoke and side mounting brackets, and a multi-voltage universal auto switching power supply.
We spec’d these lights for the first time at the PNE last summer for the mainstage which featured bands such as Tom Cochrane, The Pointer Sisters, ZZ Top, Huey Lewis and the News, and the Doobie Brothers.

brand.LIVE called on avs to help ring in the New Year by providing a turnkey solution for Vancouver’s public, NYE 2016 celebration at Canada Place.
We provided the audio, lighting and video solution for the main stage as well as enhancement lighting, and video & audio feeds to the promenade and VIP hosting area.
brand.LIVE, had a significant challenge to install a StageLine SL260 truck stage on the street in front of Canada Place and to get all of the lighting, audio, and video display equipment fully set up and in operation within a 7-hour timeframe. brand.LIVE leaned on avstrategies to manage much of the technical production process and to ensure everything was tested and ready to go.
In the audio department, we provisioned a d&b audiotechnik V Series line array and cardioid subwoofer array to provide an exceptional audience experience while not disturbing the surrounding residents and hotel guests. Our in-house lighting design team put together a comprehensive stage lighting package that took every eventuality into account for all bands and stage activities. For visuals we provided a high-def LED video wall, flown from the stage roof and fed with a mixture of live video, sponsor graphics, and the all-important New Years countdown clock.
The event was a huge success on all fronts. Organizers expected an audience of 15,000 while the final count was an audience of over 80,000 taking in the festivities.
avstrategies provided audio & lighting production support for an intimate private show featuring Patti Smith, performing with band member Tony Shanahan. The party celebrated the 20th Anniversary of Pyrrha Jewelry and was held at their new Vancouver studio on November 21st.

To mark the occasion our Toronto guys transformed their loading dock into a poster board with Irish imagery using outdoor projection. Including a 10th Century Irish Round Tower which was projected on a large smokestack, and an Irish Castle dating back to to the mid 1800’s, they finished the scene off with a cheeky Guinness on the side and some Green LED lighting on the remaining stubborn snow!
Skills Canada is a national, not-for-profit organization that actively promotes careers in skilled trades and technologies to Canadian Youth. The Canadian Skills Competition is an Olympic-style competition showcasing students’ technical and leadership skills.
We utilized one of our 12’x36’panoramic screens and 100 feet of our LED star drape to provide the scenic background. Content was projected using two of our 15K Christie HD projectors routed through our Christie X20 Spyder to create a blended image. We also customized our VH1 podiums with the event graphics and provided all of the rigging and lighting.

We have recently added Martin RUSH MH 1 Profile lighting fixtures to our national inventory. These super bright LED moving head fixtures with efficient optics punch out a variety of effects and colors from two gobo wheels and two color wheels.
Their small size and versatility make them perfect for small and medium shows.
